Coal-fired power plants to use Alstom emissions control technology

Alstom said it has been awarded contracts to install emissions control systems at unnamed coal-fired power plants in the U.S.

In the United States, Alstom has been awarded a contract by a joint venture between the construction firm Kiewit Power Constructors Energy Co. and the engineering firm Burns & McDonnell for the supply of dry flue gas desulphurization (DFGD) systems including fabric filters for two coal-fired units located in the U.S. These units are expected to reach commercial operation by 2014.

Alstom said the DFGD systems and fabric filters supplied for these units will cut suphur dioxide (SO2) emissions and particulate emissions from the two units.
