Wind projects in Ontario to use locally-built turbines

Pattern Energy Group LP and Samsung Renewable Energy completed an expanded agreement with Siemens (NYSE: SI) to supply wind turbines for four projects totaling 870 MW of capacity in Ontario.

CS Wind’s factory in Windsor and Siemens’ blade factory in Tillsonburg will build the turbines for the 270 MW South Kent, the 150 MW Grand Renewable Energy Park, the 270 MW K2 and the 180 MW Armow wind projects in Ontario.

Samsung and its partners have committed to bring C$7 billion ($6.8 billion) in investment to Ontario to create 2,500 MW of new renewable energy sources. This investment is helping to establish four manufacturing facilities in Ontario.
