Gas-fired turbine upgrade made by Alstom

Alstom (OTC: AOMFF) upgraded its GT24 natural gas-fired turbine and the corresponding KA24 combined-cycle power plant for North America’s 60 Hz markets.

The KA24 power plant is a 2-on-1 configuration designed to start up in less than 30 minutes. The plant is capable of providing 450 MW of power in 10 minutes to make up for power fluctuations from renewable energy sources. The equipment will be manufactured at Alstom’s factory in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Alstom earlier upgraded its GT26 gas turbine and corresponding KA26 combined-cycle power plant for the 50 Hz markets.
