Malaysia plant to use GE combined-cycle turbines

GE (NYSE: GE) will supply three Frame 6FA gas turbines, associated generators and services for the 300 MW Kimanis combined-cycle gas-fired power plant project in Sabah, Malaysia.

The plant will consist of three combined-cycle blocks of approximately 100 MW each. GE will also support the plant for 18 years through a contractual service agreement with Kimanis Power Sdn Bhd, a unit of Petronas Gas Berhad. Kimanis Power will develop the plant on a build, own, operate and transfer basis. The generated electricity will be sold to Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd.

The turbines are expected to be shipped in the first quarter of 2012, with commercial operation scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2013.
