Boundary coal plant to become carbon capture system

SaskPower is moving on with plans for a $1.2 billion (US$1.26 billion) rebuild project at Unit 3 of the 824 MW Boundary Dam coal-fired power plant into a carbon capture and clean coal project. The rebuild is expected to generate 110 MW of electricity.

The government of Saskatchewan invested $240 million (US$252 million) into the Boundary Dam Integrated Carbon Capture and Storage Demonstration Project. Construction is scheduled to start immediately with a completion date in 2014.

Babcock & Wilcox Canada Ltd. was picked to engineer, manufacture, deliver and construct critical components to retrofit the boiler.
