PGE reorganizes executives step down

Two top Pacific Gas & Electric Co. executives are resigning as the utility reorganizes following a deadly explosion in September 2010 involving one of its high-pressure gas lines in a San Francisco suburb.

John Keenan, chief operating officer, and Edward Salas, senior vice president of engineering and operations, are leaving the company, according to the Associated Press.

As part of the reorganization, PG&E plans to divide its gas and electricity divisions into separate units, the article said.

The September blast left eight dead, dozens injured and 55 homes uninhabitable.
