CH2M HILL completes plant

CH2M HILL has completed a 535 MW, $700 million combined-cycle natural gas-fired power plant in New York.

The plant, owned by Empire Generating Co. LLC, can also provide peaking power up to 635 MW.

The power plant includes two GE 7FA dual fuel combustion turbines, two Alstom three-pressure heat recovery steam generators, one GE D-11 reheat steam turbine, an 11-cell GEA cooling tower and on-site water treatment facility. The plant primarily runs on natural gas and can also run on low sulfur fuel oil.

CH2M HILL also constructed a 345 kV switchyard, an eight-mile-long, 345 kV transmission line and a 16-inch diameter gas line.
