CPUC approves Mojave

13 September 2010– The California Energy Commission awarded a license to the 250 MW Abengoa Mojave Solar Project.

Construction on the plant is now expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2010, and plans to begin operations by 2013. The project is being developed by Mojave Solar LLC, a unit of Abengoa Solar Inc. Pacific Gas and Electric Co. signed a power purchase agreement for all of the output from Mojave.

Eight other “priority” large solar projects proposed for the state include the 250 MW Beacon Solar Energy Project; the 1,000 MW Blythe Solar Power Project; the 850 MW Calico Solar Project; the 250 MW Genesis Solar Energy Project; the 709 MW Imperial Valley Solar Project; the 370 MW Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System Project; the 500 MW Palen Solar Power Project; and the 150 MW Rice Solar Energy Project.
