25 May 2010– S&C Electric Co., a company that integrates renewable energy sources to the grid, was awarded a contract to perform engineering services for Calico Solar in California. The plant is being developed by Tessera Solar and EPC firm Mortenson Construction and will use the Stirling Energy Systems’ (SES) SunCatcher solar dish to provide 850 MW of electricity.
S&C will provide services including power flow modeling of the SunCatcher system; stability, short circuit coordination, and dynamic simulation studies; and design of the collector system.
Calico Solar is the second solar plant owned by Tessera Solar that S&C’s Power Systems Services Division is providing engineering services through Mortenson Construction. S&C is also providing services for the planned 27 MW Western Ranch Solar plant in Texas.
