13 May 2010– San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with a unit of LS Power to receive up to 130 MW of solar energy from the planned Centinela Solar Energy facility. The California Public Utilities Commission must approve the contract.
The solar array is expected to send the power across the Sunrise Powerlink, a 120-mile, 500 kV electric transmission line that is expected to be complete by 2012. Centinela is expected to be complete by 2014.
