wind manufacturing plant

12 March 2010– Three companies are making plans to build a wind turbine manufacturing plant in Nevada.

U.S. Renewable Energy Group (US-REG), China-based A-Power Energy Generation Systems and American Nevada Group said the 320,000 square-foot plant would produce 1,100 MW of wind turbines each year. It is expected to be ready for operation in 2011.

US-REG and A-Power signed a deal to build a $1.5 billion, 600 MW wind farm in Texas. The proposed plant brought much criticism because the owners had planned on using Chinese-made wind turbines and were going to request a U.S. federal grant.
