Invenergy to build 78 MW wind farm in Ontario

29 January 2010 — Invenergy Wind North America secured C$179 million (US$168.2 million) in financing from Manulife Financial to build a 78 MW wind farm 40 miles east of Windsor, Ontario.

Electricity from the wind project will be sold into the Ontario IESO competitive wholesale market, with the pricing framework set over the next 20 years under a contract with the Ontario Power Authority.

Invenergy Wind North America LLC is a unit of U.S.-based Invenergy Wind LLC. The project will consist of 52 General Electric 1.5xle wind turbine generators with 82.5-meter diameter rotors installed on 80 meter towers. Manulife acted as lead lender and adviser on the loan package.

Inverergy now operates wind power plants that generate 2,000 MW of wind power.
