eSolar signs 2 GW solar deal with China

13 January 2010– California-based eSolar and Penglai Electric of China agreed to build at least 2 GW of concentrated solar power plants in China over the next 10 years. Groundbreaking on the first 92 MW is expected to take place in 2010.

Penglai Electric said it plans to develop the solar projects using eSolar’s solar thermal technology and place them near biomass generation facilities.

China Huadian Engineering Co. will lead the construction process and China Shaanxi Yulin Huayang New Energy Co. will own and operate the 92 MW plant.
