15 October 2009– Pacific Gas and Electric has contracted with Agua Caliente Solar, LLC, a unit of NextLight Renewable Power, LLC, for 290 MW of solar power to serve PG&E’s customers in California.
The Agua Caliente project, located in Arizona, will use photovoltaic panels to generate about 700 GWh of electricity per year. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2012 and it could be fully operational by 2014.
Agua Caliente is the second project between the two companies. In June, PG&E and NextLight announced an agreement for 230 MW of power from another project in California.
Both projects are subject to approvals by the California Public Utilities Commission.
