Italy’s Enel may join Russia nuclear power project

1 October 2009 – Italy’s power firm Enel is interested in joining a project to build a nuclear power station in Russia’s region of Kaliningrad.

Inter RAO’s Chief Executive Yevgeny Dod told reporters his company was also talking to other potential foreign partners.

Last month, Russia approved a plan to invest EUR5bn ($7.29bn) in a 2.3 GW nuclear power station in Kaliningrad by 2016-2018 in tandem with foreign companies, thus blessing the first joint project with foreigners in history.
