22 September 2009– The departments of Treasury and Energy awarded 25 renewable projects more than $550 million in cash payments from the second round of funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Some companies are opting for the cash payments in lieu of tax credits. The first round of funding, totaling $502 million, was announced September 1 and brings the funding total to more than $1 billion so far.
Project developers and suppliers getting the cash include Ameresco, GE Energy, Solyndra and Vestas Americas.
