UK’s Seal Sands power station given green light

27 April 2009 – Consent has been granted by the UK government to Norsea Pipelines Limited to build an 800 MW gas fired power station at Seal Sands, Teesside.

The 800 MW combined cycle gas turbine power station is part of an overall development including a liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage facility immediately adjacent to the site.

In addition to generating electricity the power station will supply high quality heat to the LNG facility, which would otherwise have come from stand-alone boilers. This is a highly efficient practice that will result in significant savings in greenhouse gas emissions.
