GE to install coal mine gas generators at Chinese mine

10 February 2009 — GE Energy will provide two of its Jenbacher coal mine methane gas engines to provide more than 3 MW of on-site power for a Chinese mining project. The Sichuan Coal Group will use the technology for a project that uses mine gas to generate onsite power for mining activities.

The Sichuan Coal Group’s Furong CMG Utilization Co. power plant will use the gas engines’ exhaust gas to produce steam, which will be used in a steam turbine to generate additional power for the site.

The units are slated to begin operation by the end of March.
