IPS signs $250 million contract for Chinese nuclear plants

20 January 2009 — Invensys Process Systems (IPS), a technology, software and consulting firm, will develop and implement four nuclear control rooms, with simulation technologies, critical control and safety systems, for two new nuclear power plant sites in China. The agreement is worth about $250 million.

Under the purview of China National Nuclear Corp., the two projects, each of which will have two 1 GW plants, are contracted by China Nuclear Power Engineering Corp. China Nuclear Power Operation Technology Corp. will jointly design the plants.

IPS will provide an integrated technology platform for both safety (1E) and control systems, using its Triconex and Foxboro I/A Series products. The IPS solution also includes an advanced reactor protection system (RPS).

IPS serves supplies control systems to more than 100 of the nearly 440 operating nuclear plants worldwide.
