Emerson wins automation contract for new coal-fired plant

14 January 2009 – Emerson Process Management said it received a contract from Basin Electric Power Cooperative to digitally automate the 385 MW, coal-fired Dry Fork Station. The power plant is expected to be operational by 2011.

Emerson’s PlantWeb system includes deployment of the Ovation control system, which will monitor and control the plant’s main and auxiliary boilers, as well as the burner management system, air quality control system and balance of plant processes. Emerson will also provide AMS Suite predictive maintenance software that streamlines device configuration and commissioning. Dry Fork will also use Emerson’s SmartProcess combustion optimization technology and a high-fidelity Scenario simulator.
