Alstom breaks ground on steam blade facility

12 December 2008 — Alstom is building a 20,000-square-foot blade manufacturing facility at its service workshop in Richmond, Va. The expanded facility will double Alstom’s capacity to manufacture steam turbine blades for the power generation equipment made by Alstom and other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Upon completion in June 2009, the new facility will allow increased blade production of 7,000 blades to 16,000 blades annually. The Richmond blade manufacturing operation can accommodate blades of up to 38 inches in length.

Alstom facilities in Richmond provide service solutions, product support, repair and technology improvements for both Alstom and other OEM makes of generators, steam and gas turbines.
