150 MW wind farm goes online in Texas

22 October 2008 — NRG Energy, Inc. and its 50-50 joint venture partner, BP Wind Energy North America Inc., completed construction and brought online the 150 MW Sherbino I Wind Farm project in Pecos County, Texas.

The Sherbino I Wind Farm, NRG’s first wind project, consists of 50 Vestas wind turbine generators, each capable of generating up to 3 MW of power.

An NRG subsidiary, Padoma Wind Power, managed the construction and development. BP is now operating and dispatching the facility.

In addition to the Sherbino project, Padoma is developing the Elbow Creek Wind Project, a 122 MW facility in Howard County. The project is expected to be online by the end of the year.
