The Wafer-Cone flow meter relies on differential pressure technology with built-in flow conditioning to achieve an accuracy of +0.5 percent, with a repeatability of +0.1 percent. It operates over a flow range of 10:1. It is designed for liquid or gas service in line sizes from 0.5 to 6 inches.
The Wafer-Cone flow meter has the ability to self-condition flow. It is designed to eliminate the need for extensive up/down stream straight pipe runs required by other DP technologies, such as orifice plates and venturi tubes. Master Bond Inc. introduced a new one-component, optically clear, non-yellowing UV and/or heat curable polymer system called UV15-7DC. This system is designed for bonding, sealing and coating applications. It is 100 percent reactive and contains no solvents or other volatiles. UV15-7DC is not inhibited by air, and typical cure times range from 5 seconds to 2-3 minutes depending upon the wavelength, intensity of the UV light and the thickness being cured. Typical heat curing schedules are 10-30 minutes at 250-260 F.
Master Bond UV15-7DC has a low viscosity. It has thermal shock resistance as well as the ability to adhere to many different substrates including glass, metals, plastics, polyester films and polycarbonates. It has a Shore D hardness of >70 and an elongation of 65-75 percent. Its tensile strength is 5,460 psi.

LHDV load holding valves
HAWE Hydraulics released its new LHDV load holding valves. These pressure valves feature dampening components for use with “load sensing” spool valves.
HAWE’s load holding valves act on the return flow side of double-acting consumers. The LHDV valves block the return duct according to their set pressure (setting approximately 15 percent above the maximum load pressure), generating a counter force to the pushing (negative) load. Therefore, the pump acts to feed the inflow side, pressurizing the cylinder enough to overcome the set pressure of the load holding valve, thereby dropping the load.
The LHDV is available with a number of options, including shock valves and shuttle valves with or without a bypass check valve.

Universal Flow Monitors Inc. introduced a series of plastic-construction flow meters designed for transmitting corrosive fluids in water treatment. Applications for the new P420 Series of vortex-shedding flow meters include water, corrosives, brine and low-viscosity fluids.
The flow transmitters are electronic instruments with wetted parts entirely of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The non-mechanical meters are designed to transmit low-viscosity fluids that are compatible with PVC, including water that may contain particles.
The P420 flow meters are available in five pipe sizes with maximum flow rates as follows: 1/2 inch ( 12 GPM, 45 LPM), 3/4 inch (25 GPM, 95 LPM), 1 inch (50 GPM, 190 LPM), 1-1/2 inches (100 GPM, 380 LPM) and 2 inches (200 GPM, 750 LPM).
P420 vortex-shedding flow transmitters have no O-ring seals. Connection is made by either solvent welding PVC pipe into the socket port provided or threaded connection.
Electronic output is from a 4-20 mA two-wire transmitter rated “Intrinsically Safe” when used with barriers. The electronics package is totally potted and not vulnerable to shorting, corrosion, leaks, humidity or condensate from conduits or thermal cycling.

Solvay Chemicals Inc. announced a new product, the SOLVAir Select 300. Based on sodium bicarbonate, this new product is specifically designed for use in air pollution control applications, in particular, the treatment of SO2.

Sensor Developments’ rotating torque sensors feature a bearing system designed to allow the structure to be exposed to very high radial loads without damage. High-temperature materials for bearing applications
Metallized Carbon Corp. presents Metcar Grade 2500 and Metcar Grade 9800 from its Resistox family of high temperature mechanical grades. Treated with a specially formulated oxidation inhibitor, these bearings and thrust washers offer greatly increased oxidation resistance without sacrificing their self-lubricating properties.
For operating temperatures between 700-1,000 F, Metcar Grade 2500 is designed for general purpose high temperature applications where conventional lubricants would break down and fail. Metcar 9800 addresses extreme temperature installations between 1,000-1,100 F, such as furnaces, dryers, high-temperature conveyors and dampers.

48-bit digital input board
United Electronic Industries (UEI) announced the release of the Guardian Series DNx-DIO-448 high density digital input boards The DNA-DIO-448 and DNR-DIO-448 are compatible with UEI’s “Cube” and “RACKtangle” I/O chassis, respectively. The board reads all 48 bits at sustained rates in excess of 1 kS/second. Input switching levels and hysteresis are software selectable from 028 VDC with 25 mV resolution. As part of UEI’s Guardian Series, the board uses an A/D input approach. A diagnostic input mode measures the analog voltage at each input, thus helping to enable the detection of short and open circuits as well marginal or failing drive circuitry. The analog input capability is also an installation, diagnostic and data acquisition tool.
Software for the DNA-DIO-448 is provided in the UEIDAQ Framework. The Framework provides an API that supports programming and operating systems including Windows, Vista, Linux and most real-time operating systems (e.g. QNX, RTX, RT Linux). Thomas & Betts is adding a halogen-free offering to its line of Ty-Duct wiring ducts. The Halogen-Free Ty-Duct product line is designed for high-temperature applications up to 95 C (203 F) or where specifications call for products that will not emit toxic or corrosive gases. Hart Scientific, a unit of Fluke Corp., announced the 4180 series precision infrared calibrators. The two new models, 4180 and 4181, utilize the same size targets used by thermometer manufacturers to assist in performing infrared thermometer calibrations.
The 4180 calibrator has a temperature range of -15 C to 120 C, with radiometric (non-contact infrared) display accuracy as good as ± 0.40 C; and the 4181 calibrator measures from 35 C to 500 C, with radiometric display accuracy also as good as ±0.35 C.
The 4180 series calibrators have features that allow users to address quality issues including emissivity and size of source effect. Additional features include target stability, target uniformity, six-inch target diameter, traceable radiometric calibration and compensation for the emissivity settings of the radiation thermometer being tested. In addition, sample calibration procedures for Fluke thermometers are built into the instrument.
