China to subsidize wind power research and development

26 August 2008 – The Chinese Ministry of Finance (MOF) has published the Provisional Administration Rules on Funds for Industrialization of Wind Power Generating Equipment in order to support research and development (R&D) of key wind power generating technologies and step up development of the wind power industry.

According to the rules, eligible enterprises can receive subsidies for producing the first batch of 50 units of MW wind turbine generators, according to a standard of 600 yuan/kW ($87.80).

Complete machine manufacturing enterprises and key part making enterprises will share the subsidies on 50-50 basis, which will be mainly used for the R&D of new products.
