Renewable Energy Systems buys wind energy turbines

Renewable Energy Systems (RES) Americas Inc. will purchase nearly 500 MW worth of GE Energy 1.5 MW wind turbines in a deal totaling more than $700 million. GE Energy will also provide commissioning and operations services as well as maintenance support. RES said it intends to use the turbines for projects in 2009 and 2010.
