France’s EDF to invest €900 m in gas fired power stations

19 June 2007 – EDF is to invest €900 m ($1.2 bn) to build new gas fired power stations, the group said in a statement following a recent board meeting.

It said it would build three turbines producing 55 MW in the Paris region and a new generation combined cycle plant producing 440 MW at its existing plant at Blenod-les-Pont-a-Mousson in eastern France.

In addition, an oil-fired 750 MW plant at Martigues in the south of France will be replaced by two combined cycle units producing a total of 930 MW.
