North Dakota regulators OK $250 million wind farm

1 June 2007 — North Dakota utility regulators have approved a 159 MW, $250 million wind project being developed by FPL Energy, Minnkota Power Cooperative and Otter Tail Power Co.

The farm will have 106 wind turbines and will be the largest wind farm in the state to date, covering some 47 1/2 square miles in Cavalier County. FPL officials said construction will start this month and should be completed by the end of the year. North Dakota could have about 500 MW of wind power by the end of the year.
