Hitachi to build power plants for Electrabel

29 May 2007 – Hitachi Ltd has won a 300bn yen ($2.47bn) order for three large coal-fired power plants from French utility Electrabel.

One plant will be constructed at a new Electrabel facility in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and the other two in Germany. Each will have capacity of 800 000 KW.

The Hitachi group will handle the entire order, with Hitachi itself overseeing the design and production of the steam turbines and generators, and Hitachi Power Europe GmbH in charge of the overall design and construction.

Hitachi is also in negotiations for two more power plants that Electrabel plans to build in Germany.
