1 May 2007 — Babcock Power Inc. subsidiary Babcock Power Environmental Inc. and CH2M Hill will team up for the engineering, procurement, construction and startup (EPC) of a new emissions control system for the Gainesville Regional Utilities Deerhaven Unit #2 Power Plant in Florida. The new emissions control system includes a selective catalytic reduction (SCR(1)) system, a Turbosorp circulating fluidized bed dry scrubber, and a Hamon fabric filter. The total project award is nearly $119 million.
The Babcock Power unit’s scope of work includes designing and supplying a single turboreactor vessel, including a solids recirculation system, lime hydration unit and a Hamon Pulse Jet Baghouse. In addition, the contract calls for designing, supplying and installing an SCR system along with a urea to ammonia conversion system. Equipment for this contract will be engineered, designed, and supplied by Babcock Power and various subcontractors with installation provided by CH2M Hill. The project is scheduled for completion in 2008.
