Edison adds 120 MW of wind power to its portfolio

22 September 2005 – A subsidiary of Edison Mission Group is to acquire a 120 MW wind project in eastern New Mexico, US, from the California based wind power developer, Padoma Windpower.

The San Juan Mesa wind energy project, currently being constructed by Mitsubishi and Padoma, will feature 120 turbines. The wind farm is approximately 50 per cent complete and should be ready to generate by the end of the year.

Edison will sell the electricity produced to Southwestern Public Service, a subsidiary of Xcel Energy, under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
