Swedish residents get first GPRS AMR solution

15 June 2005 – Nacka Energi has selected fellow Swedish company Actaris to provide an Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) solution for electricity. Metering regulations recently introduced in Sweden require all meters to be read monthly by 2009.

The majority of the 25 000 electricity metering points, including both residential and industrial installations, are located south of Stockholm. It is the first such project in Sweden to utilise ‘point to point’ GPRS technology for residential consumers.

Actaris will use the communications company Vodafone’s GSM network to send the meter data. The project will be ready for commissioning by the end of 2006.
