The Philippines grid operator has assets valued

2 June 2005 – The first external re-valuation of the Philippines state owned grid operator’s assets has begun.

The National Transmission Corporation (TransCo) is to have its assets valued for regulatory purposes by energy consultancy firm, Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM), in association with Joaquin Cunanan/PricewaterhouseCoopers and Cuervo Appraisers, both from the Philippines.

Privatization of the grid company has not been straightforward as three bidding rounds in 2003 and 2004 failed to find a proposal that met government expectations.

An international team of more than 20 SKM engineers will carry out the valuation with support personnel sourced from Australia, the UK and the Philippines.
