Mitsui wins Drax outage contract

2 June 2005 – Drax Power has awarded Mitsui Babcock, the UK based energy services company, a maintenance contract that is expected to rise to more than £30m ($54m).

The Main Boiler Outage and Pressure Part Maintenance contract for Drax’s 4000 MW coal fired power plant in North Yorkshire, UK, is worth £6m in the first year and will rise to more than £30m over four years.

Major outage works will be carried out across all six generating units over the four year period. Drax recently awarded Mitsui a £6m NOx reduction contract.
