31 March 2005 – Aggreko Ireland Ltd has secured a two-year Framework Agreement with the Electricity Supply Board (ESB) Networks to supply generators nationwide for maintenance, repair and upgrading of the national networks.

Aggreko Ireland provides several turnkey power packages ranging in size from 30kVA to 2MVA. The contract involves generator packages up to 10 MVA which are primarily for the Network Renewal project, as well as emergency breakdown situations. At this stage, the project involves upgrading major parts of the Low and Medium Networks within the Republic of Ireland.

In the future, generator requirements will be incorporated in the maintenance programme for approximately 1200 sub stations on a yearly basis.

Aggreko CEO Rupert Soames commented, “Around the world major power utilities work with Aggreko to maintain supply, and we are delighted that ESB have decided to use our services in Ireland.”

“This contract is a major achievement”, enthuses Mick McGuirk, Aggreko General Manager Ireland and Nordic. “It is unique in as much as this is the first time the ESB has awarded a Generator Framework Contract to outside suppliers, to provide these services. The team won against fierce competition from major generator suppliers from Ireland and the UK.”
