Alstom supplies its first dry flue gas desulphurization system to Brazil

17 March 2005 – Alstom is to design and supply a Dry Flue Gas Desulphurization (DFGD) system to control air emissions at a coke production facility in Vitoria, Brazil.

The DFGD system will be part of a power generation plant supplied by Kawasaki Heavy Industries to a steel plant owned and operated by Companhia Siderúrgica de Tubarão. Sun Coke, a Sunoco subsidiary, will supply the coke production technology.

Under the €11m ($14.7m) contract, Alstom will design, supply and commission a DFGD system to treat the off gases from the coke ovens. The system includes rotary atomizer, spray dryer absorbers and high-ration pulse jet fabric filters.
