ECON establishes a new joint venture company in Paris

14 March 2005 – The ECON group of companies has announced the establishment of a new company, ECON Energia. The new company, based in Paris, will offer clients detailed market and competitive advisory services in energy, environment, and related industries.

“Europe faces critical investment uncertainties as it grapples with security of supply and environmental challenges”, says Harald Norvik, the chairman of ECON Management, “and the new team will provide the cross-cutting perspectives needed to shed light on the consequences of the choices we make.”

Co-founder and managing director Scott Foster will head ECON Energia. Mr. Foster was previously Vice President of Global Regulatory Affairs with AES Corporation and, prior to that, was senior director for European and Global Power with Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA).

ECON is a leading market analysis and strategy management advisory firm in the Nordic region and is active in markets around the world advising industry and governments on market structure, regulation, outlooks, and strategy in energy and other industries.

“The establishment of ECON Energia on the continent”, says Auke Lont, the newly appointed managing director of ECON Analysis, “will allow the group to extend its recognized expertise in the field of energy from the highly sophisticated Nordic markets to neighbouring markets on the continent.”
