BNFL take German companies to High Court

10 March 2005 – British Nuclear Fuels Limited (BNFL) has launched legal proceedings in the High Court against three German nuclear companies for £13.3m ($25.6m).

BNFL has claimed that Kernkraftwerk Brokdorf, Gemeinschaftskernkraftwerk and E.On Kernkraftwerk have failed to pay bills for storage and reprocessing services carried out on their behalf. BNFL highlighted that the bills, some of which have been outstanding for twelve years, are incurring interest of £2772 a day.

An E.On spokesperson said: “They failed to meet the schedules, yet they seek to place the substantial cost burdens for the delay on our companies.” BNFL declined to comment as the matter has been referred to the courts.
