Vestas to expand wind farm in Oklahoma

3 March 2005 – One of the first commercial wind farms in Oklahoma, USA is to have an extra 151 MW of capacity installed by December 2005.

The Vestas Group, based in Denmark, is to supply, install and commission 84 of its V80-1.8 MW wind turbines for the Blue Canyon II wind power project. When built in 2003, the existing Blue Canyon wind farm consisted of 45 1.65 MW turbines.

Vestas revealed that co-developers of the wind farm expansion include Zilkha Renewable Energy, headquartered in Houston, Texas, and Kirmart Corporation, located in Wichita Falls, Kansas.

Delivery of the turbines was scheduled to begin mid 2005, with commissioning set for December 2005.
