Heineken selects Centrax control system

10 February 2005 – Centrax, the UK based gas turbine company, has installed a new control system on the generator sets at Heineken Nederland B.V. The combined heat and power (CHP) from the units supply electricity throughout the factory with the heat from the generators outputting steam for the brewing process.

The new control system features a touch-screen Supervision, Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system that will enable monitoring and programming of the generator sets from a remote location. The system is also connected to the Centrax headquarters in Newton Abbot to allow for remote monitoring and software updates.

Mark Hutchings, project manager at Centrax, said: “With remote access for programming and maintenance, Centrax engineers can troubleshoot problems instantly.”

Other features of the new control system include new Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) controls including a failsafe PLC and Rolls Royce digital engine controls.
