Babcock & Wilcox low NOx burners begin operation at AEP’s Rockport Plant

The low NOx combustion system for unit 1 was placed into service in November 2003. The system was designed to reduce NOx emissions by approximately 40 percent from current baseline emission levels. Both units fire a blend of western sub-bituminous and eastern bituminous coals. The burners and OFA ports for Unit 2 were placed in service at the end of March 2004.
