Saudi Arabia agrees power plant extension

12 May 2004 – Saudi Arabia’s Water and Electricity Minister Abdullah Al-Hosayn this week signed an SR832.5m ($222m) agreement for the expansion of the 9th power plant in Riyadh.

The project includes installation of nine gas turbines with a total installed capacity of 480 MW. The new production units will increase the plant’s total capacity to 1860 MW. The existing power plant was established at a cost of SR5.13bn
