DOE releases energy budget

12 May 2004 – The United States Department of Energy has released its budget proposal for fiscal year 2005. Included in the $24.3bn request is $728.9m for fossil energy programmes.

Nearly $496m would go for research into advanced coal, oil and natural gas technologies, while $233m would be used to maintain the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, the Home Heating Oil Reserve and the Naval Petroleum Reserve.
