Burlington, MA, Nov. 3, 2003 — Vogt Power International Inc. (VPI), located in Louisville, KY, a subsidiary of Babcock Power Inc. (BPI), based in Burlington, MA, announced today that it has recently received two orders, one from Kellogg, Brown & Root (KBR), a Halliburton Company, consisting of one Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) for Motiva’s Port Arthur refinery in Port Arthur, TX and one HRSG from SNC-Lavalin Constructors Inc (SLCI) for the City of Farmington in Farmington, NM. These contracts are valued at over $7 million.
VPI’s contract with KBR includes the design, fabrication and delivery of one horizontal gas flow, natural circulation, single pressure level, supplementary-fired HRSG with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system behind a GE Frame 6B gas turbine.
The contract with SLCI includes the design, fabrication and delivery of one horizontal gas flow, natural circulation, single pressure level, supplementary-fired HRSG with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Oxidative Catalyst (CO) systems behind a GE LM 6000 gas turbine. Both units will be VPI’s exclusive “MSG” design that maximizes shop fabrication through the modularization of components and thus minimizes the cost for site erection.
Concerning the awards, Tino Vinkesteyn, Vice President Sales & Marketing of VPI, stated that, “These awards demonstrate VPI’s flexibility in designing efficient and economical HRSGs for Municipalities, and Industrial applications as well as the large Utilities and IPP’s”.
VPI designs, engineers, and fabricates HRSGs for gas turbine sizes ranging from 20 to 265 megawatts and has units operating in 29 countries around the world. It also offers a full set of after market capabilities and services for any existing HRSG design, regardless of the OEM. VPI and its predecessor companies have a long history of supplying boilers to the power industry, with its first HRSG being sold in 1962, and supplying the industry’s first integral deaerator, first interstage burner and first reheat HRSGs.
