Florida Gas Transmission increases gas deliveries with completion of expansion

HOUSTON, May 5, 2003 — Florida Gas Transmission Co. (FGT) announced it has completed the final stage of its Phase V Expansion project.

The project, in total, provides 428 Million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) of incremental firm gas transportation service for its customers. FGT’s Phase V added approximately 166 miles of pipeline and 133,000 horsepower of compression to its existing system. The expansion is supported by long-term firm service agreements for the incremental service, net of turn-back capacity.

“With the completion of Phase V, total system deliveries of over 2 Billion cubic feet/day (Bcf/d) of natural gas are now available for electric generation, local distribution and industrial customers throughout the State of Florida,” said Bob Hayes, senior vice president and chief commercial officer for Florida Gas Transmission. “FGT, in conjunction with its customers and working cooperatively with local, state and federal agencies, was able to complete this expansion, which began construction in September 2001, on time and within budget.”

In addition, as previously announced, FGT filed its Phase VI Expansion with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in November 2001 to add approximately 121 MMcf/d of capacity, 33 miles of underground pipeline and 18,600 horsepower of compression at existing compressor station sites. With construction currently underway, the $105 million project, which is supported by long-term firm agreements, has planned phased in-service dates of June 1, 2003 and Nov. 1, 2003. By fall 2003, FGT’s total capacity will be increased to 2.1 Bcf/d.
