1 April 2003 – The repairs to the fault to the England-France Interconnector, which resulted in 500 MW of the 2000 MW capacity being unavailable, should shortly be under way. The National Grid has said that the sub-sea fault has been located and that a series of outages will be necessary to correct it.
The repair job has proved more difficult and time consuming than expected.
The repair ship is expected to be in position week commencing 7th April 2003. The Grid has made a provisional prediction of full service being resumed during the week commencing 5th May 2003.
National Grid suspended daily auctions of power during January due to the fault.
