EIA releases inventory of U.S. nonutility electric power plants

Feb. 28, 2003 — The Energy Information Administration (EIA) has released its “Inventory of Nonutility Electric Power Plants” report, which is available on the agency’s Electricity page.

The report presents detailed statistics on existing generating units operated by nonutilities as of December 31, 2000 and certain summary statistics about new generating units planned for operation by nonutilities during the next 5 years.

The detailed generating unit level data, presented by State, include capacity, energy source, prime mover type and year of initial commercial operation.

Summaries of electric generating capacity are presented at the National level and various regional levels, by energy source.
