New director for Ofgem

9 January 2003 – UK power and gas regulator Ofgem yesterday announced the appointment of Martin Crouch as its new Director for Electricity Distribution.

He joins Ofgem from the electricity company, American Electric Power (AEP) where he worked for four years on a variety of commercial, financial and regulatory areas, including the sales of Seeboard and Yorkshire Electricity.

Prior to this, Crouch worked for six years as an economic consultant for National Economic Research Associates (NERA), advising electricity companies and government organisations on price control reviews, privatizations and industry restructuring, both in the UK and internationally.

Ofgem’s Managing Director, Regulation and Financial Affairs, Richard Ramsay said, “I am delighted that Martin is joining us. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in a number of key areas of Ofgem’s agenda.

“We have a substantial programme of work on a number of fronts in the electricity distribution sector leading up to the next distribution price controls in 2005 and Martin will help lead our work across these areas.”
