ALSTOM wins repeat gas turbine order from Wintershall AG

Dec. 5, 2002 — ALSTOM has won a repeat order worth approximately 3 million euros to supply Wintershall AG (Kassel, Germany) with a Tornado gas turbine generating set for its Jakhira oil field facility in North Africa.

The new 6.75 MW (e) unit will extend an existing power plant at Jakhira, which currently operates six Tornado gas turbine generating sets also supplied by ALSTOM.

ALSTOM will deliver the generating set in consortium with Cegelec Anlagen-und Automatisierungstechnik GmbH and Co (Frankfurt, Germany). Cegelec will be responsible for turbine ducting and filtration systems, electrical cabling and the motor control centre.

The Tornado is one of a wide range of industrial turbines manufactured at the ALSTOM facility in Lincoln, UK. Delivery of the unit from Lincoln to the port of Marsa-el-Brega is scheduled for mid-May 2003.
