SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn., Aug. 6, 2002 — UTC Fuel Cells recently announced the appointment of Brian McDonald as vice president, commercial power systems.
McDonald joined UTC Fuel Cells in January 2000 as director, commercial power systems. He is responsible for sales of UTC Fuel Cells’ commercial fuel cell power plant, the PC25, as well as customer support and service. He also leads development of UTC Fuel Cells’ next-generation commercial system that will be based on Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) technology.
McDonald joined United Technologies Corp. in 1992 at UTC’s Otis Elevator unit, where he managed operations in San Diego and Los Angeles. In 1997, he was named general manager of the Middle Atlantic Region for Otis.
Before joining UTC, McDonald served as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1985 to 1990, completing the Navy nuclear power program. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from the United States Naval Academy in 1985, and an MBA from the University of Virginia in 1992.
UTC Fuel Cells is a provider of fuel cell production and development for commercial, transportation, residential and space applications. UTC Fuel Cells is the sole supplier of fuel cells for U.S. manned space missions and is the only company in the world producing a commercially available fuel cell system, the PC25 power plant.
