MALVERN, Pa., April 9, 2002 — Allegheny Energy Supply, the generation and trading subsidiary of Allegheny Energy, Inc., has implemented SCT Banner Fuels Management System (FMS) to support the purchase, transport, consumption, and payment processing of coal and other fuels, it was announced today.
The electric generation supplier burns more than 18 million tons of coal annually at the company’s 10 coal-fired plants in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. The system successfully went into production on Feb. 12, 2002.
“We were very pleased with SCT’s commitment to custom fit the Banner system to accommodate our company’s needs,” said Timothy P. Clyde, senior accountant for supply controller and project manager for FMS implementation. “We find that Banner FMS is adeptly in tune with our fuel management needs and can help us optimize our fuel administrative processes.”
“Banner FMS offers Allegheny Energy Supply a proven way to integrate a variety of processes efficiently and productively,” said John Gregg, president of SCT’s global energy and utilities solutions. “With the utility world changing, the need for systems with built-in functionality and flexibility has never been greater. Like Allegheny Energy Supply, other companies in the coal and fuel industry are learning that there is a solution like Banner FMS that can enhance their operational effectiveness.”
